A collaboration with Vancouver artist Sean Karemaker to bring his fine art poster Interdimensional Layer Cake to life in augmented reality.

Challenge

Animate a densely detailed, hand-drawn artwork without flattening what makes it distinctive. The AR had to feel like an extension of the piece, not an effect applied on top of it.

AR design and development in close collaboration with the artist.

Creative / Technical Approach

The poster’s layered imagery was separated and animated in depth, so viewing it through a phone reveals the world inside the artwork.

Public Deployment Context

Activated directly from the physical poster, an early example of the artist-collaboration model the studio now applies to murals and public art.
